Black Box was created for Black Movie as a passport to new sound, taste and visual horizons, and as a space where the public, film and the stage arts meet. Located in the galleries of "art en île" at les Halles de l’Île, Black Box has programmed a variety of amazing artists from February 1st to 10th. Lights, camera, action!

Every evening from 7 pm till one hour before the closing time, Cyril Vandenbeusch proposes original food to satisfy every hungry festival-goer!
This very original young cook is an ex-Beaux-Arts student and never stops inventing fun new ways of doing that simple thing we all need to do. EAT!

The initial idea was inspired by the movie Brokeback Mountain. Thrilled that the Black Box program organizers believed in him, DJ Schnautzi fell into a trance, and... everything happened all at once! With contagious enthusiasm, he offers a hybrid mix somewhere between “mustache” and the “attack of the killer tomatoes” and a snappy title: "disco bloodbath" (an idea that according to him is far more original than to play just any sort of music doing endless variations on “mustache”). The ten members of this band decided to create their own family “The Souchets“. With Pierre Omer (ex Dead Brother) as dad and a curvaceous “Mama Rosin“ as mom. The kids re outstanding musicians who’ll enchant you with their mélodéon, violin, guitar, banjo, percussions, drums, baritone sax, trumpet and accordion. Luckily, the couple is fruitful, and three daughters (one of whom being the talented Mariama Sylla) bring a gracious touch to this colorful family tableau.

This orchestra’s repertoire consists of revamped remakes from the Golden Age of Modern Ethiopian music (1969-1978). Visiting each of the foremost artists of the period in turn, the orchestra blends African rhythms with their own influences. Playing music that is usually sung, this entirely instrumental group emphasizes the dark and hypnotic grooves of the rhythm as well as the polished, ethereal brass themes. Improvisations, a play on texture and dynamics, distorted sounds and “noise” complete the whole.

Mental Groove records present: Kadebostan: /Minimal Techno/A mysterious, ecstatic, intense, exceptional, fresh and meditative techno by Geneva’s most promising – and independent – producer in a long time, Kadebostan creates a singular aura using acoustic instruments as well as electronic ones, ignoring loops and other classical forms. Kadebostan (Freude am Tanzen / mo’s Ferry) is akin to a club version of Murcof.
